Home Village

Resources serve as the currency for acquiring and enhancing assets within the game. There are eight distinct resources: Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir, Gems, Builder Gold, Builder Elixir, Capital Gold, and Raid Medals. Buildings are designated for generating and storing these resources, with the exception of Gems and Raid Medals, which lack storage structures.

Gold

Gold is a valuable resource extracted from Gold Mines. Once gathered, it is deposited in your Gold Storages. Your gold balance is displayed in the top right corner of the screen. Gold is utilized for constructing and upgrading Defensive Buildings, Traps, Elixir Collectors, Elixir Storages, Walls, and Workshops.

Trivia: During the tutorial, the Goblin King mentioned their love for gold. However, Goblins also pursue Elixir and Dark Elixir.

Elixir

Elixir is a resource obtained from Elixir Collectors. Once collected, it is stored in your Elixir Storages. Your elixir balance is shown beneath gold in the top right corner of the screen. Elixir is employed for purchasing and upgrading troops, Army Buildings, Dark Elixir Storage, Dark Elixir Drills, Gold Mines, and Gold Storages. Additionally, it is used for placing various Decorations.

Trivia: In certain animations and advertisements, troops are depicted consuming Elixir, which is paradoxical since troops are composed of Elixir. Elixirs, in fantasy settings, are medicinal potions that cure ailments. In Clash of Clans, elixirs serve as resources. The term “Elixir” originates from “al iksir”, the Arabic word for miraculous substances. As far back as the third century BC, Elixir was believed to transform base metals into gold and extend life indefinitely. Elixir boasts the greatest number of variations, including Dark Elixir and Builder Elixir.

Dark Elixir

Dark Elixir is a resource gathered by Dark Elixir Drills. Once amassed, it is stored in your Dark Elixir Storage. Your dark elixir balance is displayed beneath elixir in the top right corner of the screen. Dark elixir is utilized for purchasing and upgrading hero-class troops, excluding the Grand Warden, as well as training and upgrading Dark Elixir Troops. Following the Town Hall 15 update, Dark Elixir can now be used to purchase and upgrade the Monolith.

Trivia: Dark Elixir was introduced in the January 10, 2013 update. Dark Elixir is the sole resource in the Home Village absent from Clash Royale. However, Clash Royale references Dark Elixir in the Bowler’s description and it is produced by Minions throwing Dark Elixir. It is also the only resource in the Home Village not present in Clash Quest. Dark Elixir is the only resource unlocked when the player reaches Town Hall 7, as opposed to appearing at the game’s onset like Gold, Elixir, and Gems. Dark Elixir is the only Home Village resource that is a variant of another resource, Elixir. Contrary to Gold and Elixir, Dark Elixir is not available in the league shop, excluding Gems. According to a Clash of Clans tweet, Dark Elixir is a renewable clean energy source. This statement contradicts a post claiming Dark Elixir is a form of fossil fuel.

Gems

Gems are primarily acquired through in-app purchases (IAP). Although other methods exist for obtaining gems, they are considerably slower compared to buying them in the shop. Small quantities of gems can be earned by clearing rocks and trees from your village, but the re-spawn rate for trees and bushes is relatively low. Completing achievements also rewards gems. Additionally, the top players in the top three clans receive gems from the weekly tournament. Occasionally, Supercell hosts contests on their Facebook page, awarding gems to the winners.

Gems can also be obtained from the Gem Mine located in your Builder Base.

Gems can be utilized to acquire all other resources and Builder’s Huts. They can also be used to expedite upgrades, gold/elixir collection, and troop training completion.

In general, it is advisable to save your gems for Builder’s Huts, as having more builders significantly accelerates the pace at which you can enhance your village.

Builder Base

In the game, players utilize various resources to acquire and enhance assets. There are six distinct resources, including Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir, Gems, Builder Gold, and Builder Elixir.

Each resource has corresponding structures for generation and storage, with the exception of gems, which lack a dedicated storage building.

Builder Gold

This resource is extracted from Gold Mines within the Builder Base. Once accumulated, it is stored in Gold Storages. Builder Gold functions similarly to regular Gold but is exclusively used in the Builder Base rather than the Home Village.

Trivia: The resource’s name was unveiled through a clan game that awarded a magical item called “Rune of Builder Gold.”

Builder Elixir

Derived from Elixir Collectors in the Builder Base, Builder Elixir is stored in Elixir Storages after collection. Its application resembles that of regular Elixir but is employed solely in the Builder Base, not the Home Village.

Trivia: The resource’s name was revealed through a clan game that awarded a magical item called “Rune of Builder Elixir.” Despite Builder Elixir’s purple hue, it frequently appears pink. Instances of this include Elixir Collectors producing pink bubbles, the Elixir Collector in the ruined phase containing pink Elixir, and the treasure shop showcasing Elixir Storage filled with pink Elixir. Additionally, Builder Base troops generate pink elixir bubble explosions upon death, except for Beta Minion and Hog Glider, which create Dark Elixir explosions.

Gems

Gems are primarily obtained through in-app purchases (IAP), although they can also be collected from Gem Mines. Other methods for acquiring gems, such as clearing rocks and trees in your village, yield smaller amounts and occur less frequently. Players can also earn gems by completing achievements, participating in weekly tournaments, or winning Supercell’s Facebook competitions.

Gems can be used to purchase other resources, Builder’s Huts, and accelerate upgrades, resource collection, and troop training.

It is generally recommended to reserve gems for Builder’s Huts since additional builders significantly improve the rate at which players can upgrade their village.
