The Cannon is the first defense in the Builder Base: a cheap, quick-firing single-target gun that only hits ground troops. You start with one, get a second at Builder Hall 3 and a third at Builder Hall 7, and it upgrades to level 10 at Builder Hall 10. A max-level Cannon deals 165 damage per second with 1,850 hitpoints.
How the Builder Base Cannon works
It fires one cannonball every 0.8 seconds at a single ground target up to 8.5 tiles away. It cannot shoot air troops at all, so Beta Minions, Baby Dragons, Drop Ships and the Battle Copter fly past it untouched. It is a 3×3 building, and from Builder Hall 6 you choose whether each Cannon sits in Stage 1 or Stage 2, within that stage’s defense limit.
It has the same look as the Home Village Cannon at every level, but it is a separate building with its own stats. Upgrades cost Builder Gold and need a free Builder Base Builder.

Where to place Cannons
- Cover them against air. A Cannon with no Archer Tower, Firecrackers or Air Bombs nearby is free loot for flying troops.
- Pair them with splash. A Cannon only hits one troop at a time, so put it where a Multi Mortar, Crusher or Roaster can clean up the swarm while the Cannon works on the tank.
- Upgrade them early. At low Builder Halls they are the cheapest and fastest defense to level, and they are among your main answers to ground tanks.
How to attack Cannons
- Send air. Beta Minions and Baby Dragons take out an unprotected Cannon without a scratch.
- Swarm it. Because it fires at one target, a group of Sneaky Archers or Raged Barbarians overwhelms it fast. Three same-level Sneaky Archers can take down a lone Cannon with nothing else around it.
- A Cannon Cart in Mortar Mode has the same 8.5-tile reach, so with careful placement at a corner it can hit the Cannon from outside its range.
Changes since Builder Base 2.0
The May 15, 2023 update shrank the Builder Base map, cut the range of many defenses to fit, and raised the cap to Builder Hall 10, which added Cannon level 10. Builder Halls 6 and up now split defenses across two stages, with a per-stage limit on defenses (14 per stage at Builder Hall 10).

Can the Builder Base Cannon hit air troops?
No. It only targets ground troops.
What is the max level of the Builder Base Cannon?
Level 10, which needs Builder Hall 10. The last upgrade costs 4,500,000 Builder Gold and takes 9 days, and brings it to 165 DPS and 1,850 hitpoints.
How many Cannons can you have in the Builder Base?
One at Builder Halls 1 and 2, two from Builder Hall 3, and three from Builder Hall 7.
Does a level 9 Cannon count for the B.O.B Control task?
Yes. The task asks for any Builder Base defense at level 9, and the Cannon qualifies at Builder Hall 9. Many players use the Multi Mortar instead because it is already high from the gear-up task. See B.O.B Control.
