The Double Cannon is a Builder Base defense that fires four-shot bursts at one ground target, with a 7-tile range and no way to hit air. It unlocks at Builder Hall 2, you get a second at Builder Hall 5 and a third at Builder Hall 8, and level 10 at Builder Hall 10 hits for 120 per shot. Getting one to level 4 also lets you gear up a Cannon in your Home Village.
How the Double Cannon attacks
It locks onto the nearest ground troop and fires a quick burst of four cannonballs, then pauses for about 1.3 seconds before the next burst. All four shots go to the same target. That makes it great at chewing through one tough unit and wasteful against small ones: if the first ball kills a weak troop, the other three are thrown away and the cannon still has to wait for its next burst.
It is the Builder Base’s upgrade of the single Builder Base Cannon: same ground-only role, more damage per volley.
Double Cannon levels and stats
Costs are in Builder Gold. Times are base values before any Gold Pass builder discount. The in-game damage per second figure is an approximation that assumes every shot of every burst lands.

You can build one at Builder Hall 2 to 4, two at Builder Hall 5 to 7, and three from Builder Hall 8. Maxing all three costs 52,650,000 Builder Gold.
Gearing up a Home Village Cannon
A level 4 Double Cannon is the Builder Base half of the Cannon gear-up. Once you have it, and a Home Village Cannon at level 7 or higher (Town Hall 6), the Master Builder can gear up that Cannon for 1,000,000 Gold and 2 days. A geared-up Cannon gains a Burst mode that fires four-shot volleys like the Double Cannon, trading two tiles of range for more damage. Since Builder Hall 4 is the earliest a Double Cannon can reach level 4, this is a good reason to push it there early. At Town Hall 17, a level 21 geared-up Cannon and a level 21 geared-up Archer Tower can be merged into the Multi-Gear Tower.
Where to place Double Cannons
- Inside your walls, along the path tanks take. A Boxer Giant or the Battle Machine soaks up a full burst every cycle, which is where the Double Cannon does its best work.
- Next to splash defenses. A Multi Mortar or Roaster clears the swarms the Double Cannon can’t handle.
- Under air cover. It can’t touch air units, so pair it with an Archer Tower or another anti-air defense.
- Not all in one cluster. Several short-range defenses packed together are an easy target for a Cannon Cart in Mortar Mode, which can shell them from outside 7 tiles. A Push Trap where a Cannon Cart is likely to set up can shove it back into range.
How to beat a Double Cannon
Swarm it or fly over it. Raged Barbarians and the Skeletons from a Drop Ship waste most of each burst, and Beta Minions or Baby Dragons ignore it entirely. Cannon Carts in Mortar Mode outrange it. Just keep an eye on them: a cart that rolls into range in its mobile mode is exactly the kind of single, medium-health target a Double Cannon kills fast.
What changed with Builder Base 2.0
Builder Base 2.0 (May 15, 2023) added level 10 with Builder Hall 10 and rebalanced the levels below it. Damage per shot stayed the same (108 at level 9), but hitpoints went up, from 1,677 to 1,950 at level 9, and upgrade times roughly doubled at the top end, with level 9 going from 4 days to 8. Unlock levels and the number of Double Cannons per Builder Hall did not change.
