The Guard Post is a small Builder Base building, unlocked at Builder Hall 4, that keeps one Raged Barbarian and one Sneaky Archer on duty to defend your base. The two troops respawn for free before every battle, and upgrading the Guard Post raises their level, from level 2 at Guard Post 1 up to level 20 at Guard Post 10.
What the Guard Post does
Think of it as a fixed version of the Home Village Clan Castle. You do not pick the defenders and you never refill it. The same pair is stationed there every time someone attacks you, back at full health even if they died in the last fight.
A few details that change how it plays:
- The troops stand outside the building before the battle starts and wander nearby. They do not pour out when an attacker gets close, the way Clan Castle troops do.
- They have no special abilities on defense, whatever the Guard Post level. The Raged Barbarian does not get its rage and the Sneaky Archer does not cloak.
- The Raged Barbarian cannot hit air troops. The Sneaky Archer can.
- Since Builder Base 2.0 (May 15, 2023), troops that target defenses do not go after the Guard Post. It still counts as a defense for each stage’s defense limit, and for the defense-upgrade task that unlocks B.O.B.
There is only one Guard Post, and it is a 2×2 building. You place it on Stage 1 or Stage 2 like any other defense once your Builder Hall reaches 6. See the Builder Base guide for how the two stages work.

The troop count never goes up. Every level holds exactly one Raged Barbarian and one Sneaky Archer; only their level rises. Older guides that promise extra troops at higher levels are wrong for the current game.
Where to place the Guard Post
The two defenders are a distraction more than a damage source, so put them where a few seconds of stalling matters most:
- Next to a Crusher or other splash defense. Most attacking troops turn to fight the Guard Post troops when shot at, which drags them into the splash zone.
- Behind walls. The Sneaky Archer shooting from inside forces melee troops to break walls to reach her.
- Near outer buildings that your main defenses cannot cover.
- Within reach of the path a Boxer Giant push will take. The pair can pick away at building-targeting troops that will not fight back.
Because the troops are already outside when the battle begins and move around, their position at the start of a replay is not always where they will be. Moving a nearby building, trap or wall can shift where they stand.
How to beat the Guard Post
- Clear the two troops early. If they survive, they can stall your tank and leave your back-line troops exposed.
- Send air. A Baby Dragon is out of the Raged Barbarian’s reach, so only the Sneaky Archer can shoot back.
- Bombers kill both defenders in a few throws while also hitting walls and buildings.
- Beta Minions use their early long-range shots to pick the pair off from a safe distance.
- A couple of your own Raged Barbarians make cheap bait. They are fast and pull the defenders away from your main push.
- Careful with Sneaky Archers on offense: while cloaked they will not draw the Guard Post troops, so the defenders can follow and hit them. Kill the pair first or attack from the far side.
Guard Post changes
The Builder Base 2.0 update on May 15, 2023 made the Guard Post a non-defense for troop targeting and added Builder Hall 10, which brought level 10. A second Guard Post was planned for Builder Hall 7 at one point, but it never made it into the game.

Do I need to retrain Guard Post troops?
