Pets

By October 1st, 2026No Comments

Updated for Town Hall 18 (October 2026).

Pets are companions that follow one of your heroes into battle, each with a single special trick. There are 12 of them as of October 2026, all unlocked one at a time in the Pet House from Town Hall 14 to Town Hall 18. This page lists every pet, what the Pet House costs at each level, and which pet fits which hero.

How pets work

You assign each pet to one hero, and each hero carries one pet. The pairing can be changed in the Pet House or on the army screen before an attack. The pet lands when its hero does, stays close to it, and in most cases keeps fighting if the hero falls. A few pets change behavior at that moment: the Mighty Yak rages, Sneezy rages and goes after defenses, and the Phoenix’s whole job is to bring the hero back.

  • Pets only attack. They never defend your village.
  • Upgrades cost Dark Elixir, run one at a time and finish in the Pet House. A pet being upgraded can’t join regular attacks, but since April 2026 upgrading heroes and pets can still be used in Friendly Challenges and Friendly Wars.
  • Pet Dark Elixir costs were cut by 25% with the Town Hall 17 update in November 2024.

Pet House levels: which pet unlocks when

Each Pet House level unlocks exactly one pet. The building is upgraded with Elixir; costs and times are base values before Gold Pass discounts.

Pet House level Pet unlocked Town Hall Cost (Elixir) Time
1 L.A.S.S.I 14 3,000,000 1d
2 Electro Owl 14 4,000,000 2d
3 Mighty Yak 14 5,000,000 3d
4 Unicorn 14 6,000,000 3d 12h
5 Frosty 15 7,000,000 4d
6 Diggy 15 8,000,000 4d 12h
7 Poison Lizard 15 9,000,000 5d
8 Phoenix 15 10,000,000 5d 12h
9 Spirit Fox 16 11,000,000 6d
10 Angry Jelly 16 12,000,000 7d
11 Sneezy 17 16,500,000 8d
12 Greedy Raven 18 25,500,000 13d 12h

Higher pet levels are also gated by the Pet House, so a Town Hall 14 player can’t max a pet even after unlocking it. Building stats and the full upgrade history are on the Pet House page.

All 12 pets and what they do

The first seven pets go to level 15 and the last five to level 10. “Flies” matters for air traps, Air Defenses and the Dragon Duke‘s rampage.

Which pet suits which hero

There’s no single right answer, since the best pet depends on the army and on which pets you’ve leveled. These are the pairings that come up most and why they work.

Hero Go-to pets Why
Barbarian King Mighty Yak (Town Hall 14), Phoenix (Town Hall 15+) He’s the only hero that can’t attack over Walls, so the Yak breaks them for him and soaks hits. The Phoenix buys extra seconds if he drops mid-ability. Angry Jelly suits King charges with the Giant Gauntlet or Stick Horse.
Archer Queen Frosty, Unicorn, Phoenix Frosty slows defenses in Queen Walks and smash attacks. The Unicorn replaces a Healer and saves 14 housing space. The Phoenix is a safety net for a charge that goes wrong.
Minion Prince Phoenix, Unicorn A second life lets him finish off the Town Hall or a last defense, and the Unicorn is one of the few healers that can reach a flying hero.
Grand Warden Electro Owl, Poison Lizard, Frosty The Owl adds the damage he lacks; it lasts longest with a ground-mode Warden, since an air-mode Warden hangs back and leaves the Owl to take the air traps. The Lizard and Frosty sit safely behind him. Sneezy and the Greedy Raven help Warden walks and charges by clearing a path.
Royal Champion Spirit Fox, Diggy, L.A.S.S.I The Fox’s invisibility keeps her from being targeted and it jumps Walls to keep up. Diggy stuns the defenses she’s heading for, and L.A.S.S.I tanks in front of her when Diggy would leave her exposed.
Dragon Duke Phoenix, Angry Jelly Both fly as his own pet, so they don’t switch off Royal Rampage. Avoid Sneezy: her Boogers count as other flying units and cancel it.

Two pets to keep away from specific heroes: the Spirit Fox runs ahead of the Queen and Warden and dies early, and the Electro Owl struggles to keep up with the Dragon Duke.

Which pets to upgrade first

  1. At Town Hall 14, pick the one or two pets you’ll actually bring, usually the Unicorn for your Queen or Warden and the Mighty Yak for the King, and put Dark Elixir there before leveling the rest.
  2. At Town Hall 15, Frosty and the Phoenix see the widest use across heroes, so they’re good next targets.
  3. From Town Hall 16, unlock the Spirit Fox if you attack with the Royal Champion, and the Angry Jelly if you use King charges or the Dragon Duke.
  4. Upgrade the Pet House itself steadily, since it caps pet levels. Diggy, for example, needs Pet House 12 (Town Hall 18) for its last levels.
