Updated for Town Hall 18 (October 2026).
Town Hall 15 brings two Spell Towers, the Monolith, the sixth hero (Dragon Duke) and four more pets. It is also the level where the Root Rider unlocks, along with the Furnace, the Revive and Angry spells and the Battle Drill. This guide lists everything new at TH15, the max levels for defenses, troops and heroes, an upgrade order, and what to finish before TH16.
What Town Hall 15 unlocks
TH15 shipped on October 10, 2022, but several of its unlocks arrived later: the Root Rider came out with the TH16 update, the Furnace in March 2025, the Dragon Duke in early 2026 and the Angry Spell in June 2026. All of them now unlock at TH15.

The Spell Tower casts a spell instead of shooting. It starts with Rage, which boosts nearby defenses and defending troops; level 2 adds a Poison mode and level 3 an Invisibility mode that turns everything around the tower invisible for a short time once a building in its range is attacked. You pick the mode for each tower. The Monolith is a slow, single-target defense that adds damage based on its target’s maximum hitpoints, so heroes and other high-hitpoint units take the most from it.
The TH15 Giga Inferno fires at up to four targets for 300 damage per second each and leaves a poison death bomb. It has had no upgrade levels since October 6, 2025.

Upgrade priority at Town Hall 15
- Laboratory first, so TH15 research can start.
- Hero Hall to level 9 to unlock the Dragon Duke. He is a flying hero that hits much harder when no other air units are near him, and he needs his own levels.
- Pet House to level 8 for Frosty, Diggy, Poison Lizard and Phoenix. Pet upgrades happen in the Pet House, one at a time, so start early.
- Build both Spell Towers and the Monolith. The Monolith uses Dark Elixir, so it competes with any Dark Elixir hero upgrades you have queued.
- Army Camps and Clan Castle for the extra 20 housing space and 5 more Clan Castle troop spaces.
- Blacksmith to level 8 so your Epic equipment can go to 24.
- Main defenses: Inferno Towers, X-Bows, Eagle Artillery and Scattershots. Get the Cannons and Archer Towers to level 21 before you leave TH15, because TH16 merges need them maxed.
Armies that work at Town Hall 15
TH15 is the first level with six heroes, though the Hero Hall still only fields four at a time. Which four you bring depends on the army.
- Root Rider armies: the Root Rider targets defenses, has high hitpoints and flattens Walls as she rolls over them. She works well with heroes, Valkyries and Witches following through the gaps she opens, and an Apprentice Warden can raise her hitpoints further.
- Dragon Duke air: the Duke paired with the Phoenix pet, which hatches and revives him for a short time when he is knocked out.
- Hybrid with Battle Drill: Hog Riders and Miners still work, and the Battle Drill burrows to a defense, stuns defenses around it when it surfaces and destroys Walls it touches.
- Queen Charge into air or ground: the Archer Queen and Healers remain a reliable way to clear one side first.
The Revive Spell brings a knocked-out hero back into the fight, which pairs well with strong heroes like the Royal Champion. The Angry Spell does no damage; it makes every troop in its radius ignore its normal targets and go for the nearest defense for a short time.
Base building at Town Hall 15
We do not publish base layouts. Use these principles to choose or build one.
- Place the Monolith where heroes are likely to walk. It punishes high-hitpoint targets the most.
- Choose Spell Tower modes on purpose. Rage around a cluster of strong defenses makes them hit harder; Invisibility hides important buildings from attackers that have already committed.
- Root Riders break Walls by riding through them, so deep compartments slow them less than they slow other ground troops. Trap placement and defense spacing matter more against them.
- Keep the Town Hall where the poison death bomb catches the main army, and protect it from cheap Earthquake-plus-siege snipes.
- Your league floor is Witch 17 now, so your Ranked base will see full TH15 armies with six heroes to choose from. Test before committing a layout to war.
Before you upgrade to Town Hall 16
- Every building and trap available at TH15 is placed, including both Spell Towers and the Monolith.
- The Hero Hall is level 9 (required).
- Two Cannons and two Archer Towers (not geared up) are at level 21, ready to merge into the first Ricochet Cannon and Multi-Archer Tower at TH16. More are needed later, so max all of them if you can.
- Your Eagle Artillery is moving toward level 7, which you will need to reach TH17.
- Heroes and pets are as high as you can push them, and the Lab is running long research.
Town Hall 15 FAQ
What is a good TH15 base?
A good TH15 base keeps the Monolith near hero paths, uses the Spell Towers to cover the core, and places the Town Hall so its poison death bomb hits the bulk of an army. Test any layout with friendly challenges first.
What is the best TH15 upgrade order?
Laboratory, Hero Hall (for the Dragon Duke), Pet House, then the Spell Towers and Monolith. After that, Army Camps, Clan Castle and Blacksmith, then defenses.
What are the TH15 max levels for heroes?
Barbarian King and Archer Queen 90, Minion Prince 70, Grand Warden 65, Royal Champion 40 and Dragon Duke 10.
Does the Dragon Duke unlock at TH15?
Yes. He unlocks with Hero Hall level 9, which needs Town Hall 15. He was added in the February 2026 update and could be freed in a community event in late February and early March 2026.
