Furnace

By October 1st, 2026No Comments

Updated for Town Hall 18 (October 2026).

The Furnace is a Dark Elixir troop that never moves: you drop it, and for the next 60 seconds it spits out Firemites that run at buildings and leave burning pools behind. It unlocks at Town Hall 15 with the level 12 Dark Barracks, takes 18 housing space, and is a permanent troop added in March 2025. Its max level is 4, reached at Town Hall 17; Town Hall 18 added no new level.

How the Furnace works

Think of it as a small, stationary spawner, closer to the Siege Barracks than to a normal troop. Once placed it releases Firemites on a timer until it has spawned its full count (19 to 22 depending on level). After 60 seconds, or if defenses destroy it first, it is gone, and any Firemites it hadn’t released yet are lost. Left alone, it finishes its whole count with a little under 10% of its health left.

Firemites are fast, weak little units with a 2.5-tile reach. Each one pauses near a building, leaps into it (it can’t be hit during the leap), deals a small hit, and leaves a pool of fire that burns for 10 seconds. The pool is where most of the damage comes from, and it hits both ground and air things standing in it. Firemites jump over Walls, so you don’t need to open a path for them.

A few quirks worth knowing:

  • A Freeze or Ice Block Spell on a Furnace doesn’t stop it spawning, and an Overgrowth Spell does nothing to it.
  • Healers and the Unicorn pet won’t heal it.
  • Since April 2026, Siege Machines take damage from Firemite fire.

Furnace stats by level

Housing space 18, movement speed 0, lifetime 60 seconds. Research uses Dark Elixir in the Laboratory.

Firemite stats

Firemite level follows the Furnace. Movement speed 32, range 2.5 tiles, splash radius 0.8 tiles, fire lasts 10 seconds.

The lower defending numbers come from the October 2025 change that made defensive Furnaces a little weaker against attacking troops.

How to attack with the Furnace

Corner clearing and funneling

The main use is to clean up one side of a base while the rest of the army goes elsewhere. Placed near a corner, the Furnace’s Firemites eat through the outer buildings and make a funnel, the same job you might give a Baby Dragon, a Dragon Rider or a Flame Flinger. Pick a spot where defenses can’t reach the Furnace itself, so it lives the full minute and spawns everything.

Watch for Hidden Teslas. One hidden near the edge can zap a Furnace repeatedly and cut its spawn count short. If you suspect one, drop it a little further out.

Against a defending Furnace

A Poison Spell is the best tool: it hurts the Furnace and wipes out the low-health Firemites as they appear. Freezing the Furnace is wasted, because it keeps spawning while frozen. If you have a spare Totem Spell, the Totem can pull Firemites away from your main troops.

The Furnace on defense

In a Clan Castle the Furnace stays put and keeps sending Firemites at attacking troops and heroes. The burning pools punish small troops and can kill Healers in a careless Queen or Warden walk. It pauses spawning when no attackers are on the field so it doesn’t waste Firemites, though its lifetime still runs down. Pair it with a defender that can survive a Poison Spell, since Poison is the attacker’s usual answer.

Against attacking Furnaces, the base layout does the work: a Hidden Tesla tucked near the corners where attackers like to drop one can zap it over and over and cut its spawn count short.
