Updated for Town Hall 18 (October 2026).
Super Troops are stronger versions of 17 regular troops that you switch on for three days at a time at the Super Sauna. Boosting opens at Town Hall 11, costs 25,000 Dark Elixir or a Super Potion, and needs the regular troop at a minimum level. You can run two boosts at once, and each Super Troop takes more housing space than its base troop in exchange for more hitpoints, more damage and a special ability.
How boosting works
The Super Sauna appears in your village on its own once your Town Hall reaches level 11. Tap it, pick a troop that meets the level requirement, and pay the boost. From then on the Super version shows up in the Barracks or Dark Barracks next to the regular one, and you can put either in your army for the next 3 days. Before you pay, the Sauna lets you read the Super Troop’s stats and try it in a practice playground.
The rules worth remembering:
- A boost costs 25,000 Dark Elixir or one Super Potion and lasts 3 days. There is no cooldown, so you can re-boost the moment one ends.
- Two boosts can be active at the same time. During Super Troop Spotlight events the limit rises to three, as long as one of them is the featured troop.
- The Super Troop’s level is the level of the base troop in your Laboratory. You never research a Super Troop directly; upgrade the base troop and the Super version follows, even mid-boost.
- You can cancel a boost early (added June 2023) to free the slot for something else. You get nothing back, and any of that Super Troop already in your camps or queue is removed. Spotlight boosts can’t be cancelled.
- When a boost runs out, any Super Troops already in your army stay there until you use them.
- Training has been free since June 2022 and instant since March 2025, so the boost is the only real price of running Super Troops.
All 17 Super Troops: base troop, level and housing
The table lists the base troop level the Sauna asks for, the Town Hall where you can first boost it yourself, and the earliest Town Hall that can receive one by donation (your Clan Castle has to be able to hold that level of the base troop). Housing is shown as base troop to Super Troop.
| Super Troop | Base troop | Base level needed | Boost at Town Hall | Receive from Town Hall | Housing (base to Super) | Ability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Super Barbarian | Barbarian | 8 | 11 | 9 | 1 to 5 | Rage for the first 8 seconds after deploy |
| Super Archer | Archer | 8 | 11 | 9 | 1 to 12 | Arrows pierce several targets in a line |
| Super Giant | Giant | 9 | 12 | 10 | 5 to 10 | Extra damage to Walls |
| Sneaky Goblin | Goblin | 7 | 11 | 8 | 1 to 3 | Invisible for 5 seconds after deploy |
| Super Wall Breaker | Wall Breaker | 7 | 11 | 9 | 2 to 8 | Bigger bomb that goes off even if it dies first |
| Rocket Balloon | Balloon | 8 | 12 | 10 | 5 to 8 | Speed burst for the first 4 seconds |
| Super Wizard | Wizard | 9 | 12 | 10 | 4 to 10 | Attacks chain to nearby targets |
| Super Dragon | Dragon | 7 | 12 | 12 | 20 to 40 | Continuous breath that splashes |
| Inferno Dragon | Baby Dragon | 6 | 12 | 10 | 10 to 15 | Beam ramps up on a single target |
| Super Miner | Miner | 7 | 13 | 11 | 6 to 24 | Drops an exploding barrel when defeated |
| Super Yeti | Yeti | 3 | 13 | 11 | 18 to 35 | Electromites chain-shock when it takes damage |
| Super Minion | Minion | 8 | 12 | 10 | 2 to 12 | Long-range opening shots |
| Super Hog Rider | Hog Rider | 10 | 13 | 11 | 5 to 12 | Hog and rider split into two units on defeat |
| Super Valkyrie | Valkyrie | 7 | 12 | 10 | 8 to 20 | Drops a Rage Spell when defeated |
| Super Witch | Witch | 5 | 12 | 12 | 12 to 40 | Summons one huge skeleton |
| Ice Hound | Lava Hound | 5 | 12 | 12 | 30 to 40 | Slows what it hits and freezes the area when it dies |
| Super Bowler | Bowler | 4 | 12 | 10 | 6 to 30 | Boulders bounce a third time |
Only four can be boosted at Town Hall 11: Super Barbarian, Super Archer, Sneaky Goblin and Super Wall Breaker. Most of the rest open at Town Hall 12, and Super Miner, Super Yeti and Super Hog Rider wait until Town Hall 13 because the base troop levels they need are researched there.
Which Super Troops to boost
Two slots and a 3-day timer mean you should boost for the attacks you plan to make, not for variety. Some practical pairings:
Farming and quick Battles
Sneaky Goblins are the classic loot troop: they do double damage to resource buildings and stay invisible for their first 5 seconds, so a handful can strip storages before defenses react. Super Barbarians and Super Wall Breakers are cheap, low-housing picks for clearing the outside of a base when you just want stars for the Star Bonus.
War and Ranked attacks
The boosts you see most in hard attacks are the ones that change how an army plays:
- Super Archers or Super Wizards in a Battle Blimp with Invisibility Spells to take out the core.
- Super Minions, whose long opening shots outrange many defenses, as part of an air army.
- Super Yetis and Super Bowlers as heavy ground damage behind a tank line.
- Rocket Balloons, which sprint past the outer ring at the start and hit defenses hard.
- Super Hog Riders, which keep fighting after the rider is knocked off.
Ice Hound is a niche boost. It gives up some of the Lava Hound’s pups for more hitpoints and a slow on whatever it hits, which helps an air army survive a cluster of single-target defenses.
Defense
Super Troops can be donated to Clan Castles like any other troop, as long as the receiver’s Castle can hold the base troop at its required level. A Super Minion’s long range and a Super Witch’s giant skeleton are common defensive requests. Quick Donations work too, but only if the donor has that Super Troop boosted.
Super Troops in Ranked, Clan Wars and events
Super Troops you boosted normally are allowed in every mode, including Ranked Battles, Clan Wars and Clan War Leagues. Since the Town Hall 18 update (November 2025), temporary event troops and spells are banned from Ranked, Clan Wars and CWL. Ranked also strips a Super Troop from your deployment bar if an event gave you the boost but you couldn’t normally boost it yet, so a free Spotlight boost below the level requirement won’t carry into a Ranked attack.
Spotlight events hand out one featured Super Troop for free and add a temporary third slot. Medal events sometimes offer a boost as a reward as well.
When each Super Troop arrived
- March 2020: Super Barbarian, Super Giant, Sneaky Goblin, Super Wall Breaker.
- June 2020: Inferno Dragon, Super Witch.
- August 2020: Super Archer.
- October 2020: Super Minion, Super Valkyrie.
- December 2020: Super Wizard, Ice Hound.
- June 2021: Rocket Balloon.
- September 2021: Super Bowler.
- December 2021: Super Dragon.
- December 2022: Super Miner.
- June 2023: Super Hog Rider, plus the option to cancel a boost.
- May 2025: Super Yeti.
New levels keep arriving through the base troops. The February 2026 update, for example, added level 8 Witches and Lava Hounds, level 12 Baby Dragons, level 14 Archers and level 15 Hog Riders, which raised Super Witch, Ice Hound, Inferno Dragon, Super Archer and Super Hog Rider along with them.
Super Troops FAQ
How many Super Troops can you have at once?
Two different Super Troops can be boosted at the same time. Spotlight events temporarily allow a third, which has to be the event’s troop.
How much does a Super Troop boost cost?
25,000 Dark Elixir or one Super Potion for 3 days. Building the troops themselves is free.
What Town Hall do you need for Super Troops?
Town Hall 11 to boost them yourself. You can receive some earlier by donation: Sneaky Goblins from Town Hall 8, and Super Barbarians, Super Archers and Super Wall Breakers from Town Hall 9.
Can you upgrade Super Troops?
Not directly. A Super Troop always matches the Laboratory level of its base troop, so upgrading the Barbarian upgrades the Super Barbarian.
How many Super Troops are there?
17 as of October 2026. The newest is the Super Yeti from May 2025. The full army list is on the troops page.
