This policy explains what information clash-of-clans.1337wiki.com (the “Clash of Clans Wiki”, part of 1337wiki) collects when you read it, what third parties are involved, and the choices you have. This is an independent fan site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Supercell.

What we collect

We don’t ask you to create an account, and reading the site never requires you to give us your name or email address. Information is collected in these ways:

  • Server logs. Like every website, our web server records standard request data: IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. Our host uses these logs to run and secure the server.
  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets first-party cookies and sends usage data, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, to Google.
  • Advertising (Google AdSense). 1337wiki uses Google AdSense on its sites. When AdSense ads are shown, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
  • Our own house ads. Some pages show small promotions for other 1337wiki projects. We count how often these are seen and clicked. They set no cookies and send nothing to third parties. To remove duplicates within a single day, we store a short code derived from your IP address and a secret that changes every day; it can’t be used to recognise you on another day or on another site.
  • Embedded YouTube videos. Some guides, such as the attack strategy pages, embed videos from YouTube. YouTube (Google) may set cookies and collect data when the player loads or plays, under Google’s own policy.
  • Comments. If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address and website you enter, plus your IP address and browser user agent, to help spot spam. Your email address is never shown publicly. If you tick the box to save your details, a cookie remembers them on your device. Comments may be checked against Gravatar, a service run by Automattic, which receives a hashed form of your email address to show your profile picture.

How Google uses information from this site

Google’s use of advertising and analytics data is covered by Google’s own policies: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and How Google uses cookies in advertising.

Your choices

  • Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
  • Personalised ads: turn these off in Google’s My Ad Center. In the EU and UK you can also use Your Online Choices.
  • Google Analytics: install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • House ad counting: visit this link to stop this device from being counted. It sets one cookie that stores only your opt-out choice.
  • YouTube: see YouTube’s privacy controls.
  • Comments: to have a comment you wrote, and its stored details, deleted, email us from the address you used.

Children

Many Clash of Clans players are young. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Children should ask a parent or guardian before leaving a comment, since a comment asks for a name and email address. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

How long we keep information

Comments and their stored details are kept until they are deleted. House-ad view and click records are kept for reporting; the daily code in them can’t be linked back to you once that day is over. Records of automated (bot) traffic are deleted after 90 days. Google Analytics data is kept according to the retention setting in our Analytics account and Google’s policies. Server logs are kept by our host for routine operation.

Sharing

We don’t sell personal information. Information reaches third parties only as described above: Google (Analytics, AdSense and YouTube), Automattic (Gravatar), and our hosting provider.

Changes and contact

We will update this page when what we collect changes, and change the date at the top. Questions or requests: support@1337wiki.com.
