The Builder Base Elixir Storage holds Builder Elixir, the purple resource that pays for Star Laboratory research, your Hero Machines and army buildings. It unlocks at Builder Hall 3 and maxes at level 10 (2,500,000 Builder Elixir) with Builder Hall 10. You have two by Builder Hall 6, one on each stage, and you upgrade them with Builder Gold.
How Builder Elixir reaches your storage
Since Builder Base 2.0 (May 2023), most of your Builder Elixir comes from defending. Every time another player attacks your Builder Base, the Elixir you earn from that defense goes into the Elixir Cart near your Boat. Tap the cart to move it into your storages whenever you like; until then it sits in the cart, which has its own cap that rises with your Builder Hall level. Supercell made the cart bigger in June 2025 to fit the larger battle rewards added that March.
Two smaller sources fill the gaps. The Star Bonus you earn by collecting stars in attacks pays out Builder Elixir as well as Builder Gold, and your Builder Base Elixir Collectors produce a steady amount every hour. Attackers can never take any of it: Builder Base battles do not steal loot.
What Builder Elixir pays for
Builder Elixir covers the offense side of the Builder Base plus a few economy buildings:
- troop research in the Star Laboratory, and upgrades to the lab itself
- Builder Barracks, the Healing Hut and the Reinforcement Camp
- the Battle Machine and Battle Copter
- the Gold Mine, the Gold Storage and the Gem Mine
Defenses, traps and the Builder Hall are paid in Builder Gold, so they draw on the Builder Base Gold Storage instead.
Elixir Storage levels and stats
Upgrades cost Builder Gold. Times are base values before any Gold Pass builder discount. The storage stays fully usable while it upgrades.

The Builder Hall stores 1,500,000 Builder Elixir on top of your storages at Builder Hall 9 and 10. With both storages maxed, your total cap is 6,500,000.
Which upgrades need bigger storages
The late Builder Elixir upgrades are large. Level 10 of the Star Laboratory and the top Healing Hut level each cost 5,000,000, and Gem Mine level 10 costs 5,500,000. Two level 9 storages plus the hall come to exactly 5,500,000, so at Builder Hall 10 you can start every one of those without maxing the storages first. Max them when you have a free builder and nothing better queued, which is more often now that the May 2026 update added an extra Builder Base builder.
A quicker check before any upgrade: if the cost is higher than the number shown on your Elixir bar when full, a storage level is the first thing to buy.
Placing it on your base
When Stage 2 unlocks at Builder Hall 6, it comes with its own level 1 Elixir Storage, so one sits on each side of the map. It has no defensive value beyond its hitpoints, but every building counts toward the attacker’s percentage. Spread the storage outside your core so ground troops waste a few seconds on it, or use it to pad the path toward a Crusher or Mega Tesla.
What changed with Builder Base 2.0
The old Builder Base paid both resources for winning Versus Battles. Builder Base 2.0 (May 15, 2023) removed those head-to-head battles, made defending the main Builder Elixir source through the new Elixir Cart, split bases into two stages from Builder Hall 6, and added Builder Hall 10 with Elixir Storage level 10. Later updates raised Builder Base battle rewards (March 2025), enlarged the Elixir Cart (June 2025) and added a second Builder Base builder (May 2026).
